Notes from immediately previous days and nights:
passing by THE BILL GRAHAM CIVIC AUDITORIUM –
interesting corkscrew-shaped plants out front for some event there...
then on to THE SAN FRANCISCO PUBLIC LIBRARY...........
a Sunday before noon, with many waiting to get at them books and videos and audio
and whatever........passed through the UNITED NATIONS PLAZA
Sunday antique and artisan scene - PHILIP K. DICK paperbacks, vintage SCIENCE FICTION, for, like, twenty bucks per - and worth it, just for the amazing cover art......
found a nice pair of GAP HIPSTER khaki pants - washed 'em and am wearing 'em now......
up to GLIDE CHURCH for popcorn chicken........
really cute and spiritual mid-teeny young lady there........well under 21, and over 10......
serving the food up.......and met neighbor STEVE from THE JEFFERSON HOTEL –
chatted a bit on Eddy Street, and he gave me 35 cents for the Muni
so I could recycle up in the Fillmore........Steve is expert on the movie/film distinction........
good dude.......up to the 'moe to recycle for petty cash....
10 PET plastic bottles, 1 brown glass, 12 clear glass, 27 aluminum cans, 2 #2 plastics.........
three bucks and 27 cents was my take......
just like that guy in The Graduate who said the future is plastics......
it's not trash, it's cash..........
and, like, technically, anything over 2 bucks is not considered petty cash and a check is issued - got that piece of paper, then over to SAFEWAY to cash it free of charge.......
then a walk back up Geary to THE TENDERLOIN, my home........
call from friend, who was going to THE PRESIDIO to get mail.......and on my mind:
MISSION event at THE ARTIST X-CHANGE........and passed by on Geary also:FALUN DAFU folks protesting in front of the Chinese embassy on Laguna........terrible tortures done to some of those practitioners by the powers that be over there across the Pacific..........buncha d*mb*sses, frankly....those torturing and those being tortured just a bit less..............it was a warm SAN FRANCISCO day this day I am scribbling about..........washed those Hipster Gap pants, put 'em on wet, they began to dry....Tommy Hilfger poster on Geary near Van Ness I crossed the street to check out more carefully - looked like Laetitia Casta's little sister in bikini underwear....brought to mind WILLIAM GIBSON, his criticism of Hilfiger in PATTERN RECOGNITION - GOOGLE on these names and words........and passed some chiropractic office featuring an add for some green drink in the window - VITAMINERAL GREEN @ RAINBOW GROCERY recommended.......passed by THE EDINBURGH CASTLE pub........good jukebox there, GUINNESS, and a decent Chinese restaurant just down the block to go with all that.......also passed THE MAGAZINE on Larkin - source for printed material....especially of a, like, salacious nature......and LIVE CONTINUOUS ENTERTAINMENT at the New Century girlie show club........and there's CHEZ PAREE in the 'loin......then saw someone I knew from THE COMPUTER TRAINING CENTER - a real Madonna fan.......then some ANCIENT AGE KENTUCKY WHISKEY and 7Up......saw hotel neighbor Carl in the lobby of the Jefferson.....got mail from Comcast - cable service - I am a DSL fellow, I believe....the mail was addressed to ENTERTAINMENT ENTHUSIAST, funnily enough.....and I thought to myself: it had been a very fast week........thought of CHET HELMS and photo of him in THE GUARDIAN.....him at a shindig at THE PHOENIX MOTEL.......and thought of fine journalist BARNEY HOSKYNS, his book BENEATH THE DIAMOND SKY, about the HAIGHT-ASHBURY - the HASHBURY.........well, plenty more where all that came from, but I’ll leave it to this one page………885-5052 (#501)………starplane.blogspot.com…….hamiltonstarplane@hotmail.com…………

[Dearest blog readers: a different name today for this.........
have been considering a change for a while........
same content being provided, basically..........]

CENTRAL CITY: 8/20/2004 10:38:03 AM

…MSN is my, like, default, or whatever, server…
so users are made to wonder if Jennifer Garner is single again……..she’s d*mn good in ALIAS, that is for sure….
there is a good book on that show at THE SAN FRANCISCO PUBLIC LIBRARY
for any who have cards and wanna get informed……
and in other news, got turned on by fellow JEFFERSON HOTEL resident TOKAY about LOUIS L’AMOUR –
he said he hurt his eyes reading the man’s work…..
I am into something of a space cowboy thing right now,
listening to that STEVE MILLER song (along with GANGSTER OF LOVE by him as well)….
so being that way, I am getting into some L’Amour for the first time in my life……
got an audio of his out from the library but it doesn’t have enough cowboy material in it…
it’s
Jubal Sackett, and the time it covers is before the later cowboy mythic material……
check him out…….and tonight at THE ARTIST-XCHANGE on 16th near Guerrero,
six to 10 pm event for local emerging artists – nice venue there…..
SCOTT MITCHELL sent me an e-mail about this…..and hello to my man CARSON…spent some good time a few days ago at the fishing pier near 3rd and Mariposa with him as he had his line in the water waiting for the big one to bite………met him at Celia’s Thursday night shindig – which shindig I am no longer welcome at…..hopefully my banishment won’t be forever…..it didn’t help that I rarely brought my own bottle of booze……..and my, like, vibe, my aura, didn’t quite mesh with those of the celebrants, I reckon…….oh well……….and congratulations to filmmaker T. ARTHUR COTTAM for the successful showing of his PORNOGRAPHIC APATHETIC at THE BRIDGE here in town not long ago……..was in attendance since he reserved a free ticket for me for that show, part of THE SAN FRANCISCO UNDERGROUND SHORT FILM FESTIVAL…….PEACHES CHRIST, the Marvelous, hosted, along with friends…….good crowd size, good time had, at that after-midnight hour………and, and……..my cell has unlimited weekend service from Friday at 9pm until Monday at 7am, so gimme a call……..and on the way here to 170 OTIS, at the job search facility there, passed by the ANTIQUES AND ARTISAN MARKET at UNITED NATIONS PLAZA…..beautiful Egyptian-style chalice there I prized, also genuine African masks, handmade soaps……when I passed through, passing through at the same time, little kids all on a line…………and……..had some of the h*sh that I got for a buck in front of THE ODD FELLOWS BUILDING a few days ago last night……..guess I felt something……was doing my regular ANCIENT AGE KENTUCKY WHISKEY at the same time, so there was some mind-altering symbiotic synergy going on…….also, on the way here, crossing Van Ness at Market, near that hot tub place, music from a vehicle also paused: “….hunting the horny-backed toad….” – Elton John, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”…….odd commentary on one’s life sometimes from the random song…….I am hunting the horny-backed spare change for whiskey and bus fare………stopped by at the HOTEL CIVIC CENTER to see if my buddy FEISAL was in and if he had the twenty bucks he owes me…….he wasn’t in, or wasn’t answering his phone……….I think he’s good for it, and I sure could use those clams just now…….don’t even have 35 cents for Muni fare to take me to THE FILLMORE RECYCLING CENTER…….got cans and bottles, tho’ – enough for some Ancient Age, most likely…………and a note about that hotel Feisal is in: World War II telephone system in place there to connect to the rooms – interesting antique…….and also passed by the 50 OAK building, which is undergoing structure renewal, scaffolding all up in front – former home of THE SAN FRANCISCO DANCE CENTER, which is now housed at the Odd Fellows Building, which is being administered by PETE SELLARS………he told me there’s a bar in there, besides all the groovy dance students…….gotta get there and check out the fraternal architecture of that long-standing historical edifice……..I am traveling light today else I’d have more notations to put down…….noteworthy to recap from the previous blog: JET LI in ROMEO MUST DIE last night at the Jefferson……..frankly, I was pretty bored with the non-Jet parts of it…….BRIAN SAMUEL is the manager of the hotel and has his say in what’s on on movie nights…..but I believe the Jet flick was a resident request – a good one………..but, like, Brian, I like comedy…………we’ll get it together for selections that will the most please……………

STARPLANE’S NEW SCORES 27Monday, August 16, 2004 (2 of 2)TO: JEFFERSON ORGANIZING BUREAU (J.O.B.):…and to continue from the previous installment: Associate and I went up to my hotel room for a while after the Farmers’ Market…she had bought a watermelon, which we shared…then it was to the library – got an overpriced (3 and a ½ buck) Guinness along the way…there were two Ambrose Bierce volumes there, as well as the Barney Hoskyns treatment of the Haight-Ashbury scene…made a call to my buddy MIKE CROMWELL about this time, 13 minutes – I’ve got unlimited calls from 9pm Friday to 7am Monday, so I was going for it…then it was to Trader Joe’s with Associate…we got a roasted chicken, some port wine, and some sort of puffed finger food with a pirate theme – good text on the back elaborating on that theme…we skipped a so-called “port” from South Africa – the only true port, the only kind Associate will drink, is from Portugal…and REO Speedwagon was notably on at Trader Joe’s there South of Market – “I Can’t Fight This Feeling”…I checked out the exceptional whiskey selection there…pretty handmade labels for that…then it was on to the park at Potrero and 16th for a bit of a picnic – a soccer match was in progress as we ate the chicken, drank the wine…we both agreed the bird, eating it, was a form of carnage…it’ll be wild king salmon next time…and she had a coupla good books on her, Associate did: a Gabrielle Roth one – she’s a movement teacher of some sort – and one by Joe Hyams, student of Bruce Lee, on martial arts (surprise!) – then we headed back on Muni to Associate’s Mission hotel room…studied the newspaper’s analysis of the Olympics, which’ve just begun…so this takes us up to about 24 hours ago…up in Associate’s hotel room…paused there a bit…she proceeded to Bikram yoga, I did my thing in the room…got front desk man Leo a Camo malt liquor for effective words he uttered to an *sshole who had been causing trouble in the hotel…drank my whiskey…over to Adobe Books briefly…got my man Dre a malt liquor and let him make a phone call on my cell…he told me a woman had offered to take him to Point Reyes for the weekend – he declined – too noble to allow a woman to pay his way…
got a book about

Larry Ellison of Oracle at Adobe for a buck…lady named Gravity was tending the desk there…popped in at Mimi Barr and said hello to Diane Vargas – she always puts on such great
shows there – a real center of art in the Mission and in San Francisco…then after Associate’s class, over to the Lexington Club for jukebox music and something to drink – I put on 3 DURANDURAN tunes…trivia night it was, and Associate and I hung out and played for a few rounds under the name “Diamond Sky”…had a Vicodin Associate had left over with my Guinness as we did our best, trivia-wise…Jefferson is on the two-dollar bill, Associate knew…we didn’t correctly answer what the Julia Roberts character got paid for her services in Pretty Woman…and we didn’t guess Jackie Jackson as one of the 5 Jackson brothers…then it was on to Osha, a Thai place on Valencia, ‘round about midnight…the “Brown Rice Clay Pot” is fine…with prawns, about 15 bucks…Associate and I had one of our usual fallings-out…I was still smiling, but she was not…I finished up the meal and was out the door…she left a message on my cell early in the morning, but the phone was off and I didn’t get to it until later…whatever…haven’t heard from her yet today, haven’t called her…so on and on…notable words: MOJO NAVIGATOR, a hippie publication…SANTANA BAR & GRILL, new place on Mission – owned by the guitarist, I believe…ANCIENT AGE this morning for breakfast…got VAN MORRISON, STEELY DAN, and THE LEAVES on CD from the library this morning – put TUPELO HONEY on a tape…the Leaves are a group from the Sixties of Los Angeles, and I am enjoying them mightily…DR. STONE is the first track and is great…kinda like DR. FEELGOOD…and the Van Morrison was recorded in part at WALLY HEIDER STUDIOS, which is right around the very corner from the hotel I am in right now…and in THE EXAMINER this morning…ALIEN VERSUS PREDATOR was #1 at the box office with 38.25 million in sales…BILL PICTURE mentioned JANE FONDA in his celebrity column…and JULIA CHILD’s death was noted…but I gotta make this very short now –my 45 minutes are upand I don’t wanna get shut down before I transmit this…later.Blog: http://starplane.blogspot.com/Phone: (415) 885-5052 (#501)/E-mail: HamiltonStarplane@Hotmail.comALL FOR FUN AND FUN FOR ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TO: JEFFERSON ORGANIZING BUREAU (J.O.B.):

This is the third letter to the J.O.B. – am ensconced at the Main Branch of THE SAN FRANCISCO PUBLIC LIBRARY, 4th floor…had been always using THE COMPUTER TRAINING CENTER on Eddy near Leavenworth but have begun at this new location…a screen is a screen, I guess…was just looking at a book by one of my favorite music journalists, BARNEY HOSKYNS, about THE BAND…they are featured in the recent FESTIVAL EXPRESS, a really fun movie that I recommend…read about details about THE WEIGHT…anyway, on to the regular material: was doing a GOOGLE on NLN2 (see previous blog)…about 13 bucks to order it online…it might be hard to find it in stores – it’s from four years ago, and in the genre it’s in it might have already long been displaced by newer stuff…been eating instant potatoes I found somewhere…good enough in a pinch, which is where I usually am…add some Tabasco and some tamari and it is good to go…went to Glide today…filling enough…and did some picking up of cans and bottles at Union Square…got about 3 and a ½ bucks at the FILLMORE RECYCLING CENTER…for Muni fare and for whiskey…must mention SITE FOR SORE EYES there near Powell for the excellent free service the man their gave me – my mirrored shades needed a bit of tightening and the man treated me very well…and CHRISTOPHER CAEN, son of HERB CAEN, is doing a column in THE EXAMINER – I think I mentioned this before but it’s worth a repeat…and I learned today that AMBROSE BIERCE, a fantastic writer, wrote for the same paper, this, like, a century and a ½ ago…and here’s an iambic pentameter couplet: “…reality’s embracing platinum/so come on up if you are wanting some…” – and I passed by, a coupla days ago, the Sony Metreon, on the way to meet with Associate at some cultural event at Yerba Buena Gardens…I just bought a really wonderful Sony CD player, and I’m very happy with it…and look up BRION GYSIN at the library – just a suggestion…and must especially note THE SAN FRANCISCO UNDERGROUND SHORT FILM FESTIVAL – was there at midnight Saturday, 2 days ago, to see my e-mail buddy T. ARTHUR COTTAM’s PORNOGRAPHIC APATHETIC…funny, funny film…the whole festival, at THE BRIDGE there out on Geary, was really quite a spectacle, hosted by the inimitable PEACHES CHRIST – the crowd was large and appreciative, a beautiful SAN FRANCISCO scene…waiting for a ½ hour at 3 a.m. afterwards for the Muni was worth it…good use of music by Peaches in her own contribution, including BETTE DAVIS EYES…and the next morning, out to see my buddy BOBPON at his worksite in CHINA BASIN LANDING – had my Sony music box with a Deadhead sticker on it, and 29-year-old guy named Cassidy (as in the song) started talking to me on Eddy after noticing it…then it was to MARTIN’S for the free Sunday morning meal…Muni wait along the way – noted a PATTI SMITH flyer for her recent Fillmore shows on a pole…after the food, had some time to kill – my buddy Carson, called him, he told me he was out at his usual fishing spot near 3rd and Mariposa – I joined him for a pleasant chat as he tended to his line…then on to see Bobpon…nice chat with him as well…he said THE CHRONICLE messed up in an article, didn’t give JAMES TAYLOR proper credit for YOU’VE GOT A FRIEND…then it was on to the Sunday Farmers’ Market at UN Plaza to meet Associate…ANDY WARHOL bus stop picture along the way…(continued next blog)…

STARPLANE’S NEW SCORES 25
Saturday, August 14, 2004

TO: JEFFERSON ORGANIZING BUREAU (J.O.B.):

…this, friends and neighbors and passers-by, is the 2nd “communiqué” to the above-mentioned J.O.B. – so be forewarned…ha ha ha…okay, let’s get busy…skipping the recap, basically…all the capitalized words are, I feel, and maybe we feel, important in some way…please go over these words, if you care to…now…notes to myself from yesterday…MOSCONE PARK AND RECREATION…ASSOCIATE and I were down in that area, the Marina, yesterday…she had to pick up her mail at the Presidio and I was along for the free ride…fine youth from the Park & Rec were selling lemonade, cookies, and Kool-Aid…Associate, of course, makes the Jonestown reference, which was lost on the fine youth…and there was Wiffle Ball going on at the nearby baseball diamond – my speed in games of that stripe…and we were at the Round Table there by the Marina Safeway – Associate was kind to me and bought a ½ pitcher of beer, some a dozen chicken wings, a f*ckin’ low-carb pizza – that trend of decreased carbohydrates is getting’ outta hand…and good music played on the jukebox there – 11 songs for a dollar! Can’t beat that with a large stick! Hadda wait for a little girl eating at Round Table with her daddy – she wanted to watch Disney cartoons on the big screen there when I wanted to start up the music…so I granted her wishes…here at the songs I played: WHERE HAVE ALL THE COWBOYS GONE by PAULA COLE, ROCKIN’ MY LIFE AWAY by GEORGE THOROGOOD (who is due in town to play the Fillmore…PATTI SMITH just played there last night…she was one of the few women that WILLIAM BURROUGHS could take much of), SHERYL CROW – EVERYDAY IS A WINDING ROAD, HOTEL CALIFORNIA – EAGLES, NEW KID IN TOWN by the same band, BLOOD, SWEAT, AND TEARS – SPINNING WHEEL, a TINA TURNER, a SHANIA TWAIN, LADIES OF THE CANYON – ANNIE LENNOX (a JONI MITCHELL cover), SMOOTH by SANTANA…the box could use some updating, granted, but for a buck you cannot beat that…the 11th song was that Paula Cole cowboys number – it went unheard because that little girlie wanted to watch the Disney Goofy animation…and after the music, plugged the tube back in and was very impressed with KIM POSSIBLE, a cartoon action girlie, from Disney – funny, wild stuff, time travel material, impressive…then out of Round Table, Associate and I, to the Marina branch of THE SAN FRANCISCO PUBLIC LIBRARY – ordered some AMBROSE BIERCE, who makes Mark Twain look like a real girlie-man…but, lemme ask you, what’s wrong with girlies? And, on the way to the 22 MUNI stop, CIRCUS CHIMERA in town at MARINA MIDDLE SCHOOL…and I realized that yesterday was Friday the Thirteenth! And then this and that until this morning…out the door to recycle…Bobby was on duty at the front desk, and Walter…asked him about the chicken soup he had made…questioned Bobby about if he had written me up for calling maintenance man Gabe an *sshole…he hadn’t…and hello to Tom and Bob and Keith and Ev and all at the Jefferson…then it was on to Union Square to get cans and bottles to recycle…for beverage money and Muni fare…got to the Fillmore recycling center and separated the various bottles and cans by color and plastic type…hit on the idea that this was a microcosm of humanity in general…got 2 bucks and 6 cents for my efforts, more than expected…then it was the Main Branch of the library – picked up THE OUTSIDER and NEUROMANCER – spent 75 cents on beer…later or sooner.

STARPLANE’S NEW SCORES 24
Thursday, August 12, 2004

TO: JEFFERSON ORGANIZING BUREAU (J.O.B.):

…this is addressed to the J.O.B. – that is, all the tenants, crew, and visitors of the Jefferson Hotel (440 Eddy Street, San Francisco)…and it’s also addressed to those who might happen to be passing by said hotel, or who are buying goods at the local EMPIRE, NEW PRINCESS, or CADILLAC corner markets…or buying two buck burgers at LA MAMMA across the street…or who are attending to two buck beers at THE BROWN JUG on the corner of Eddy and Hyde…who know who you are…and now, …again, skipping the recap…all the capitalized words…thanks to night music man KEITH at the Jefferson for all that great, great music on cassette he’s been turning me on to of late…and in other news: finally found out, in the novel of TO SIR WITH LOVE, just what it was that was burning in that mid-Sixties London classroom that got SIDNEY POITIER’s character all ballistic…and back to Keith – he put on that ol’ Osmonds hit, ONE BAD APPLE, onto a tape, as per my request…fine song…and this morning, and from work from last night, had enough cans and bottles to get myself a 200 milliliter bottle of ANCIENT AGE KENTUCKY WHISKEY at the superlative New Princess…been enjoying that on the sly..and Keith put on some CHEECH AND CHONG which I was quite enjoying to the max…and Jefferson manager BRIAN SAMUEL had that new MARVEL COMICS-based flick on last night…mentioned it last time…good use made of RAINDROPS KEEP FALLING ON MY HEAD, the B.J. THOMAS song from BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID…which Brian would program that one…and Keith had STONEY END on a tape…the LAURA NYRO version, I believe…those Streisand did hers…and I am considering ANTON MESMER…and THEODORE ROSZAK…GOOGLE on these names at THE SAN FRANCISCO PUBLIC LIBRARY…SFPL.ORG…and on the way to the FILLMORE RECYCLING near Geary in the SAFEWAY parking lot, did a BACK DOOR MAN move and got on the Muni without paying a fare…this can be done on certain lines, certain busy lines…and…tripped on the CHINESE being spoken at the recycling center…made somewhat friends with a Chinese-speaking man there…smiles were the only form of communication allowed, but we were both smiling to beat the band…got three bucks and two cents for my efforts…two bucks and 38 for the whiskey…leaves me enough for 2 Muni fares, using my new CALIFORNIA card…and figured this: ten bucks a day would be a wage for me…that’s 300 clams a month, which is not considered substantial through SSI…that’s whiskey money plus…then back again to THE TENDERLOIN, on foot – a nice walk…through OLIVE ALLEY at Van Ness, past THE MITCHELL BROTHERS porn palace…got the whiskey, and used by food stamp card to get EVIAN water and a package of instant noodles…hello in the Jefferson to Gabe and Dino and Barbara and Kay and Michael Morgan…and Walter and Bobby and, and…waited for a computer at the library, drank my drink…HERB CAEN display on the 5th floor…his son CHRISTOPHER has a column in THE EXAMINER which is well worth reading…and before I got on this, glanced through the latest ROLLING STONE…skipped to “The Charts” section for the latest info on popularity…JIMMY BUFFETT is #1 with LICENSE TO CHILL…not wasting away in Margaritaville, he…AVRIL LAVIGNE, PRINCE, VELVET REVOLVER, JESSICA SIMPSON, GUNS N’ ROSES, SLIPKNOT (for THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES) are charting…wish ANUSHKA SHANKAR was…learned that Buffett has sold nearly 240 thousand copies of his latest work…and review of FESTIVAL EXPRESS with a photo of JANIS JOPLIN and guys…THE BAND is also in that flick, much recommended…noted in the review: raid on a liquor store in SASKATCHEWAN…which city also mentioned in the song RUNNIN’ BACK TO SASKATCHEWAN by THE GUESS WHO…so that is all for now to you all, of the Jefferson Organizing Bureau (J.O.B.)…we trust you enjoy this short flight on the Starplane…as for me, it’s more whiskey…& 2night, perhaps w/ ASSOCIATE, free showing of ALIEN VERSUS PREDATOR at the GALAXY…

STARPLANE’S NEW SCORES 23
Wednesday, August 11, 2004

Lot to get to again so I’ll just skip the usual recap – you have it all there anyway, so I shouldn’t hafta mention the same words again…anyway, today: was studying up on RUDOLF NUREYEV today at THE SAN FRANCISCO PUBLIC LIBRARY MAIN BRANCH…a novelization of his life called DANCER looked good…another had a lot of pictures of the guy…and whatta guy he was! He was perpetually traveling around the world and a nickname of his was “Never-Off”…and also: watched TO SIR WITH LOVE at the library – what a wonderful film! Recommended…the title song was played 3 times during the movie…you gotta see it, rent it…far, far better than about 99.99% of what’s out there in the theatres now, OK? I kid you not, in my humble opinion…SIDNEY POITIER IS the man…and there was a fun event at BOEDDEKER PARK in THE TENDERLOIN today – free food, all sorts of fantastic community-making…linked to YOUTH WITH A MISSION, a superb Christian group working in the ‘loin, the Tenderline…and went to THE COMPUTER TRAINING CENTER to do some e-mailing and whatever but it was a full house…and visited THE SAN FRANCISCO ART EXCHANGE to view their collection of rock album art…been there before but it is sure worth a visit if any of you are so inclined in that area…the one that caught my eye today: a cover photo not used for a Stones 45 for HONKY TONK WOMEN – the boys kicking back at some bar, some dive bar…coupla grand for that one…and, also, tonight, my hotel, THE JEFFERSON, is holding the usual Wednesday movie night – BRIAN SAMUEL is the manager and the mastermind behind this showing…that new Michael Moore is gonna be up first, then the Spider-Man sequel…Brian still hasn’t gone for the flicks I suggested – maybe in time he’ll get ‘round to ‘em…and went today to THE HEART OF THE CITY FARMERS MARKET and sampled wares in astounding abundance – this at United Nations Plaza…ya hadda be there…California virgin olive oil with bread for dipping thereof, nectarine slices to die for…me with ANCIENT AGE KENTUCKY WHISKEY to drink…honey from American Canyon in hexagonal glass, grapes on the vine, “Dragon Pearl” pluots, black tiger prawns – oh, please! And for some reason was singing FREE MAN IN PARIS by JONI MITCHELL to myself…it’s because the Jefferson night man KEITH has been making me up really fine audio cassettes of pop and rock music and that one was on there…and for WALTER, the day front desk man at the Jefferson, picked up a copy at the library of DAYS, a PAUL BOWLES journal about daily life in Tangier…Walter surprised me with tales of his global travels – Timbuktu, even…so I figured he’d like that particular Bowles work…and, and…back to To Sir With Love…THE MINDBENDERS were the featured band…gotta get some of their stuff…there is so much good to say about this movie…won’t go into it now…also ordered from the library: COLIN WILSON, his THE OUTSIDER…and NEUROMANCER – there used to be a complete audio version of that one but it seems to not be there anymore…and, gotta mention the stone cold foxes in that Sidney Poitier movie: SUZY KENDALL for one…geez! And in library news: was looking for THE MINDF*CKERS, actual book about “acid facism”, but it has gone missing, sadly…very informative, that one…and must mention a guy on Leavenworth feeding pigeons – bad thing to give those darn birds, like, bread…and it was ETHAN RUSSELL who did that Stones 45 cover…and did some recycling today, got 15 cents short of two for that bit of work…and saw a guy in a ZZ TOP t-shirt, complimented him, this near Union Square…and he tells me about the band: “OFTEN IMITATED, NEVER DUPLICATED” – love that line! And, notably…hope these quick changes aren’t confusing…went to the good SUPERETTTE 128 MARKET on, like, Ellis, maybe, to get a beverage with my recycling cash…mistake made a few blocks away went a lone female SAN FRANCISCO POLICE DEPARMENT officer, going into one of the hotels I used to deliver SALVATION ARMY MEALS THAT HEAL meals to, saw my can of malt liquor and made me dump it out into the gutter…told her that I worked hard to get the coinage for that, but she was not impressed with my plight…still had enough left for a small can of low-rent beer at THE EMPIRE MARKET near the Jefferson, but, like, still…and just recently, while waiting on this terminal I am currently using, studied the photos in a book by STEVEN WATSON called FACTORY MADE: WARHOL AND THE SIXTIES…well worth looking into…called “a masterly achievement” by a back cover critic…I must agree…and that is about it for now…skipped a lot of details, and the print in the paper version of this is near the lower limit…taken to the limit, like the Eagles sing…

Get that flick…unpleasant rape scene in it, but there’s a lot of really fine material…CREATIVITY EXPLORED and NATURE’S FIRST LAW sent me messages – Google on these names, please, you naughty little nymphos (and assorted other ones)…and contact yer classmates, OK? STARPLANE'S NEW SCORES NUMBER TWENTY
Various items to get to: at THE COMPUTER TRAINING CENTER on Eddy near Leavenworth, good PHIL is departing for greener pastures, to not coin a phrase...always great, from my observation, was he, with the many patrons who visited the Center...I learned he likes music a lot and I gave him a tape of several songs he might like...I wish him very well...made a purchase, me, at THE NEW PRINCESS MARKET at 500 Eddy...what was it? Oh - right...a can of soup...good place for purchases...also, THE EMPIRE and THE CADILLAC are two nearby markets that deserve patronage...and, and...ASSOCIATE and I plan to attend FESTIVAL EXPRESS at THE BRIDGE out on Geary somewhere...this flick's been mentioned in many previous blogs so I won't go into it now - GOOGLE on the name for further (or furthur) information...and THE JEFFERSON HOTEL continues to be such a wonderful place to live...and my SSI cash came in and have been distributing it around town...last purchases: beer at the aforementioned Empire and a delicious burger at LA MAMMA at the same intersection, Eddy at Leavenworth...THE TENDERLOIN is a vibrant neighborhood...quite the cast of characters hither and yon...and hello to MICHELLE at THE GOLDEN EAGLE HOTEL up in NORTH BEACH...and really gotta get to my laundry at the place on Hyde around the corner from the Jefferson...my Gap jeans jacket is getting a bit...like...and gotta get 2 postcard stamps for items to send out at the United States Postal Service location on Hyde going south towards the main branch of THE SAN FRANCISCO PUBLIC LIBRARY...where I was earlier today - got the complete audio version of Neil Gaiman's AMERICAN GODS novel and a collection of plays by MAE WEST...and gotta get an audio cassette for a buck and a quarter east along Eddy where I get that good price...and at a video seller at the tri-weekly market at United Nations Plaza, purchased for four California dollars a tape with two FLIP WILSON television shows from the early Seventies...been wanting to watch some of his material again for some time...and seeking a copy of RED SUN - that selfsame video seller has got some operation out on Taraval and a Web presence and access to the sources, so that one will be mine by and by...and SWEET CHARITY is another flick I wanna see again - SHIRLEY MACLAINE and SAMMY DAVIS, JR. are featured - he does a number called "Rhythm of Life"...and, and...August 7th reception for yet another fine presentation at the MIMI BARR GALLERY in the Mission...hello to DIANE VARGAS there...and ADOBE BOOK in the same area - event on the 14th beginning at 3 - go there and look into that, why don't you? And, like, gonna see my buddy BOBPON at his CHINA BASIN LANDING work location on the 15th...he's gonna have some AMERICA for me to tape...TODAY'S THE DAY, YOU CAN DO MAGIC - all that and a bag o' chips...and on and on...they're gonna be roasting Phil shortly so I am making this short...until next time and space.

STARPLANE'S NEW SCORES NUMBER NINETEEN
...next must-get purchase, floss...can probably find a nice item for a buck here in THE TENDERLOIN of SAN FRANCISCO...been using the same piece day after day after day just to save what little I've got left...ASSOCIATE figures that isn't too hygienic, but I have been spending money mainly on ANCIENT AGE KENTUCKY WHISKEY...also, gotta get 'round to visiting my good poet friend LOR up there in NORTH BEACH...an interesting thing about her is that she was there in VENICE BEACH in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA in the very early Sixties - a time between the BEATNIK thing and the later HIPPIES...real BOHEMIAN scene there in Venice...visited the place during my LOS ANGELES period from 1990 to 1997...still something of that good ol' vibe there, sorta...also, service this morning held at my hotel, THE JEFFERSON, for departed resident WILLIAM HAMILTON. Local priestess of some Presbyterian variation officiated, fantastic...she serves the streets and it was a pleasure to meet such a one. And in other news, got a chance to listen to CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVISITED at the library...have been, frankly, avoiding 'em because of the lack of JOHN FOGERTY - same deal with VELVET REVOLVER and their CONTRABAND disc, due to the absence of AXL ROSE - but, Revisited really rocked my world at the SAN FRANCISCO PUBLIC LIBRARY MAIN BRANCH listening station...so I'm a-gonna take that disc out and give it a real good listen...all those classic rock favorites in that house...also, in the main mix on my music player, GUESS WHO live in 1972 - another mind-blower, so good are they...there's a, like, 18 minute version of AMERICAN WOMAN...BURTON CUMMINGS, the lead singer, spends a good several minutes scat singing before the actual tune begins - great stuff...got it at THE VIRGIN MEGASTORE for just a shade over ten bucks, and so worth it...and got an e-mail from buddy BOBPON - gonna meet with him at his CHINA BASIN LANDING worksite on the 15th, gonna bring my new box along, gonna get him to bring his AMERICA box set - sure wanna hear, like, TIN MAN, TODAY'S THE DAY, and on and on...YOU CAN DO MAGIC, OK? All that, and a bag o' CLASSIC LAY'S chips...but seriously...hope yer laffing yer passes off by now, 'cause these be the jokes...and called up my friend MICHELLE (formerly Mike) - lives at THE GOLDEN EAGLE hotel up there in North Beach...was surprised to see the change in him when I happened to see him at UNION SQUARE not long ago...whatever...and hello to SARAH at the THC...handed her my rent money order this morning...a real looker, she is...and she's a straight up she...and thanks to KEITH at the Jefferson for making me a tape of this program called TIME SWEEP - all the #1 hit songs from the mid-Fifties to sometime in the Eighties, when the program came out - just a few seconds of each, but it's, like, a trip, right, to hear that sequence...he said he didn't want it but I am gonna make him a nice cassette of songs - he told me he has plenty to listen to already, but at least I'll work up that tape as a tribute to him...and FESTIVAL EXPRESS is playing at THE BRIDGE - really, really recommended - caught a free showing a while back at the UA GALAXY on VAN NESS...fantastic - unique footage of folks like THE GRATEFUL DEAD, JANIS JOPLIN, THE FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS, and many more, from 1970, all on board a train in Canada...and LOST HORIZON on HAIGHT is a recommended location for clothing...RODNI there collects images and puts them out on the Internet...Associate bought a cowboy hat there...I got a rose sticker there that is now on my passport...and gotta get THE MANHATTANS, a disc with their song "Just One Moment Away", I believe it's called...and I am thinking of that line from MAKE IT WITH YOU - DREAMS ARE FOR THOSE WHO SLEEP...and NEVERLAND up in North Beach is excellent - got a free light for my cigarette there recently - decent of the guy in there...and KATEISENBERG.COM is the site for more from the creator of ALWAYS FOREVER - a comic strip I found at MACONDO there in THE MISSION...very, very fun, and smart...and consider the GIFT ECONOMY concept - AARON, a guy I met at an art showing held by LOO, is a Burning Man person and he tells me that the Gift Economy is in FULL TILT BOOGIE MODE up in that scene of scenes...and remember the LUSTY LADIES, of course...and NAUGHTY LITTLE NYMPOS, for certain...the second in that series appears to be quite the one or five...and I am in contact with THE GOLDEN DAWN through osogd.org...and FOOD NOT BOMBS is to be highly commended for their nightly soup...down there at United Nations Plaza...they might thinking of spicing up their offering a bit, just a bit...but I'm being just picky-picky-picky...and I just got a fine bottle of ARAMIS 900 from MACY'S UNION SQUARE - happy with the fragrance...and at AMOEBA on Haight near Stanyan, was checking it out a bit...interesting item: FRANKIE LAINE collection..."Frankie" was in the title alone and I figured it was, y'know, The Chairman of the Board...and DEAN MARTIN featured in a great LP collection...good photo of THE RAT PACK (Dino, Frank, and SAMMY DAVIS, JR.) at HARRINGTON'S here in the 'loin...and I am using that COOL HAND LUKE line lately: WHAT WE HAVE HERE IS A FAILURE TO COMMUNICATE...and gonna have 2, count 'em 2, SHAFT features tonight at our movie night - the Sam Jackson one, and the Rich Roundtree...frankly, this was the selection of manager BRIAN SAMUELS...been giving him lists of movies to pick from, but is he taking any suggestions? TO SIR WITH LOVE - now THAT is the flick, OK? How about CASABLANCA, Brian? And, and...EVERYDAY HOGGZ is a fine tune heard lately...and JONI MITCHELL has some new music out...has "survival" in the title...and to finish this up, the list of 15 songs played at KENNEDY'S pub (in the same building as THE INDIA CURRY HOUSE on Columbus near Fisherman's Wharf) recently by yers trooly - great digital jukebox there, but I saw some flaws in the programming - whatever...the sequence was: EYES OF THE WORLD by the Dead, HEY JACK KEROUAC by 10,000 Maniacs, IF YOU WANT BLOOD by AC/DC, RIGHT THRU YOU by ALANIS MORISSETTE, DAISY JANE by America, BAD COMPANY by the band of the same name, SMILING PHASES by BLOOD, SWEAT, AND TEARS, BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH (good new version of this by RUSH), SO YOU WANNA BE A ROCK AND ROLL STAR by THE BYRDS, WHERE DO THE CHILDREN PLAY by CAT STEVENS (new version of this is "Where Do the Mullahs Chant"), 25 OR 6 TO 4 by CHICAGO, MARRAKESH EXPRESS by CSN, MOVE ON UP by CURTIS MAYFIELD, AMERICA by RAY CHARLES (how about if America did a song called "Ray Charles"? These ARE the jokes...), and THE VELVET UNDERGROUND, ROCK AND ROLL...
so that is about it for now...
are you happy now?
Are we having fun yet?
